Reference

Professional librarians are available to guide and assist patrons in locating and using the library’s print and electronic legal resources. However, reference staff is prohibited from interpreting any legal materials or information, giving legal advice or opinions, including information about statutes of limitations, determining which forms are appropriate or assisting patrons with filling out forms.

E-Mail and Telephone Reference: Reference questions may be submitted via e-mail or calling the reference desk at 619-685-6552. Every effort will be made to answer questions within 48 hours, except Holidays. E-mail and phone inquiries are restricted to specific citations to cases, statutes or secondary sources.

24/7 Chat Reference: Click on the Ask Now icon to be connected to a reference librarian using real time chat software, a service provided by the Metropolitan Cooperative Library System (MCLS). Questions received via this service will not necessarily be answered by a reference staff at SDCPLL.

NOTE: Access to all San Diego Superior Court records for individual cases, including Civil, Criminal, Family, Small Claims or Probate Court files, can only be obtained directly from the particular court clerks’ offices.
