Mr. Wildenthal will discuss the tremendous contributions made by Native Americans in the development of the U.S. Constitution and American law. Native Americans played a substantial role by constantly challenging American conceptions of the rule of law and the scope and reach of American citizenship and constitutional rights. More recently, Native Americans have enjoyed success in gaining more rights within the American judicial and political system.
About the Speaker: Mr. Wildenthal is a Professor of Law at Thomas Jefferson School of Law. He teaches and writes in the fields of constitutional law and American Indian law. He focuses on the development of constitutional law during the Civil War and Reconstruction eras of 1860 to 1877.
